About Knowle Tree Services
Knowle Tree Services is family run and owned by Roland and Lloyd Fursdon, a father and son team who have been in the tree industry all their lives. Since expanding and relocating to their new offices in Totnes the business has gone from strength to strength, currently employing 10 members of staff and servicing over £250k of specialist equipment.
Roland Fursdon
Born in Torquay, Roland considers himself part of the ‘Old School’ and started his career in the tree industry at the age of 19 when ‘Men were Men’ and ‘Trees were Giants’.
Roland saw through the height of the Dutch Elm Disease in the late 1960’s where many of our great landscape Elm trees were lost. He has stayed with the industry and moved through the decades seeing many changes and technological advances.
He still enjoys getting stuck in and working out on site with the teams or just splitting a load of logs, ensuring that the highest standards are maintained and that customer satisfaction remains a top priority.

Lloyd Fursdon NCH Arb, A.A.(Tech Cert)
Alongside his father, Lloyd has grown up with trees all his life and has a wide and varied experience of the industry. He qualified as a Tree Surgeon at Merrist Wood College, Surrey in 1993 and has continued with Professional Development from there on.
He was Tree Officer for Torbay Council for nearly five years from 1998 and more recently Tree Preservation Officer for the London Borough of Islington where the pressure to cut and remove trees comes from one of the most densely populated areas in the country.
He now uses all of his experience as one of the companies Head Consultants to deliver sound knowledge and advice to all clients.
